Cleansing Do's & Don'ts

Updated: Apr 1, 2020

Our Master Esthetician Taylor is going to work you through her process of double cleansing, and is going to share some common cleansing do's and don'ts!

Do: Always apply product in upward motions.

Don't: Saturate face with water during first cleansing. Apply only when needed.

Do: Add water rather than more cleanser. Adding more product can create a more dry consistency when cleansing, while water allows the product to emulsify.

Don't: Don't forget to cleanse your hair line, neck and behind your ears.

Do: Be gentle cleansing around your eyes, making sure not to rub a pad too hard on the sensitive area.

Don't: Don't be afraid to use your pads to get some of your eye make up off, just make sure to use downward motions. The pads will most likely not remove all the makeup on your eyes, so make sure you remove any additional eye make up separately.

Do: For double cleansing, feel free to use a silicone scrubber to remove any excess makeup or product from the skin.

Don't: Skip toner after your cleansing routine. Toner helps make sure all makeup is removed from the skin and prepares the skin for serums and moisturizers.

Some of our Fav AKTIV Cleanser Recommendations:

Purifying Gel Wash This cleanser is great for anyone with sensitive or normal to oily skin. It provides a thorough and deep clean, while additionally delivering nourishing Vitamin A to the skin. In addition, this cleanser has a light BHA acid that gets deep inside the pores and cleans out any lingering dead skin cells.

Soothing Chamomile Cleanser The soothing chamomile in this cleanser makes it perfect for anyone with sensitive, redness-prone and post-procedure skin. It gently cleanses and removes impurities without stripping moisture from the skin. For those with very easy to irritate skin, this cleanser is super creamy and fragrance free.

VitaCleanse with AHA VitaCleanse is foaming cleanser ideal for gently cleansing and purifying all skin types. Enriched with AHA’s and citrus extracts, this formula visibly reduces imperfections. It provides a superficial exfoliation to visibly improve the texture of the skin, resulting in a healthier and more unified complexion.

Green Tea Cleansing Cream Does your skin tend to lean more to the dryer side? This cleansing cream works well for this skin type because of its non-foaming, deep cleansing properties. It pumps the skin full of the supportive vitamins A, C, E and pro-vitamin B.

Wild Oats & Aloe Cleanser Great choice for all skin types! The cleanser easily removes dirt and balances oil production, while also calming the skin with organic aloe and lavender. It creates a fresh, back to nature clean that leaves the skin feeling super soft, smooth & bright.
